Career win No. 200 did not come easy for Roadrunner Women's Basketball Coach Rich Cooper -- but in the end, his Runners persevered in a tight battle at Camden County College, taking home a hard-fought 65-49 triumph over the Cougars.
The team celebrated the milestone for the program's long-time and most successful coach, who has compiled a career record of 200 wins and 82 losses with three Region 19 titles and three trips to the NJCAA Division III National Championship tournament.
The two teams battled hard, and the Runners held a 12-point second-half lead before the Cougars closed the gap to five points with about 4:30 remaining. That's when guards RaNiyah Wilson, Jameeleyonna Horace and Emma Buttocovia along with forward Tinu Bangbose stepped up to the put the finishing touches on the milestone win, enabling RCSJ to outscore Camden County, 13-2 in the closing moments.
The celebration was on as the team mobbed Coach Cooper with plenty of photos and congratulations all around.
"This team really came up big when we needed them," Cooper said following the win. "We expected a tough game from Camden County, and we got it. I appreciate how these players hang in there and give everything they have."

Asked where this milestone win ranked among past accomplishments, the 13th-year coach deferred all credit to his players.
"The players have won all those games on their own and deserve all the credit," Cooper said. "I have had the privilege of coaching them and giving them some guidance."
