Sophomore Torre Flynn (Clearview) netted the game winning goal with about 2 minutes remaining to help the RCGC Women's Soccer team rally past visiting Middlesex County College by a 2-1 score in a tough Garden State Athletic Conference battle Tuesday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime freshman Ashley Engler (Williamstown) put the Roadrunners back on track, scoring a goal at the 61:00 mark in the second half to tie the score at 1-1. Engler then assisted Flynn on the game winner to help coach Megan Ruttler's team improve to 4-0 on the young season.
"We didn't know what to expect from Middlesex, but it was nice to see that we could make a comeback like we did," said Ruttler. "We made an adjustment at halftime, and we continued to work hard the entire game."

Earlier in the day, the Roadrunners moved up in the NJCAA Division III National Rankings, claiming the No. 5 spot overall.
"Being nationally ranked is nice, but there's always a target on your back," said Ruttler, an eighth-year coach. "We may have fallen into that trap today. We didn't execute particularly well, and Middlesex came right after us. But again, we never stopped working hard."
The Roadrunners next face Camden County College on the road starting at 3:30 pm on Thursday.
