For Coach Rich Cooper's Roadrunner women's basketball team, Saturday's 93-49 Region XIX victory over visiting Sussex County Community College proved to be a solid bounce-back and just what the club needed.
The win came on the heels of a devastating defeat at the hands of Division II power Union County earlier in the week, the first loss of the Spring 2021 season for the Runners.
But the squad came out firing on all cylinders Saturday as they improved their overall record to 4-1.
Freshman forward Danielle Jeffreys (Williamstown) paced the offense with 35 points followed closely by sophomore guard Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City), who pumped in 23 points.
Also finishing in twin figures were freshman Julianna Montero with 17 points and sophomore forward Trina Deveney-Bethea, who added 16 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds.
The Runners raced out to a 51-21 halftime advantage and extended the lead to 75-34 after three periods.
Next up for Cooper's team will be a road game at Middlesex College March 23 in a 7 pm start.
