The NJCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Chautauqua, NY Golf Course concluded Friday -- and the Roadrunner Men's and Women's teams turned in one of the finest performances in program history and in the career of Coach Guy Davidson.
The Runners Men's and Women's teams took away several highlights, which included among others:
* The Men's Team finishing a solid #5 in the nation nationally, turning back a strong SUNY Niagara team for the top 5 spot on the final day of competition.
* Freshman Jamie Ciesielka earning the program's first All-American honor under Davidson when he finished #13 overall in individual competition.
* Freshman Brynn DiGiamberardino leading the way for the women's golfers with a #12 overall finish thanks to a solid +92 on the par 72 course.
The Runners Men's team held a slim three-stroke advantage over Niagara entering Round 4, but then shot a sizzling team score of +10 in the final round to secure the fifth place position. Freshman Cole Geatens turned in one of the finest rounds in program history in this tournament when he shot 2-under, 70 on the par 72 course to lead the way.
RCSJ's team ended at +83 overall to clinch fifth place while Niagara placed sixth, falling to +110. Additional golfers who contributed to the Runners' impressive efforts on the national stage included Brady Geatens, Julian Boyer, and John Bollendorf.
The top 6 placewinners in order included team champion Sandhills, runnerup Delta, #3 College of DuPage, #4 Georgia Military, #5 Roadrunners. and #6 SUNY Niagara.
"We were hanging very close to some of the national powers, especially in the last two rounds," said Dr. Davidson. "This was a huge turning point for our program. Our athletes have proven they belong here."
Ciesielka grabbed All-American honors thanks to his consistent play in each round that landed him the #13 overall spot in the final rankings. His scores included a 78 in round 1, a 77 in round 2, a 72 in round 3, and finally a 75 in round 4.
"I've never played in a four-day tournament, but I felt comfortable out there the entire time," said Cieielka, who hails out of GCIT. "It was great to see the entire team challenging each other and turning in some great rounds."
In the women's tournament, the NJCAA enjoyed its largest overall turnout in recent years with 32 individuals competing compared to only 19 in 2025.
DiGiamberardino was right on the mark with a +92 over four rounds, including an impressive +15, 87 in round 3. That was good for 12th place overall.
"This was the longest match I've ever played, and it was quite a learning experience," said Brynn, who golfed at Williamstown High last spring.
Sophomore Miya Villari was not far behind Brynn with a 405 score over 4 rounds, good enough for 19th place. Samantha Sutter and Ashley Ward also competed well for the Runners.
"For Brynn to shoot this well on this course was just a tremendous performance," said Davidson. "And each of our golfers who were here last year -- Miya (Villari), Sammie (Sutter) and Ashley (Ward) -- turned in better scores here in this tournament than they did last year. That just shows you how far our program has come, and we are proud of each and every one of these players."
The team champion in the women's competition was College of DuPage, followed by Rock Valley CC (IL). Joliet Junior College, and RCSJ Gloucester. The tournament attracted 32 golfers from 10 junior colleges across the country.
