Montgomery County Community College captured the Annual Roadrunner Classic with an 81-65 triumph over Manor College in the championship game Saturday afternoon at the RAC.
The Mustangs improved to 12-0 on the season with the victory.
Tournament MVP Matt Compas led the way with 18 points as the Mustangs pulled away from Manor to snag the win. Compas also collected 17 points in a close victory over the Roadrunners in the semifinals on Friday evening.

Roadrunners men's basketball rolled past Williamson College of the Trades, 68-41, in the Roadrunner Classic consolation game Saturday. Guard Laddis Taylor led the way with 18 points. Championship underway between Montgomery CCC and Manor College.

In a see-saw battle in the opening round, unbeaten Montgomery County College rallied from an 8-point halftime deficit to defeat the Roadrunners, 79-78 in the Roadrunner Classic men's basketball tournament on Friday.
The Runners (3-5) held a 46-38 halftime advantage, but the Mustangs erased the deficit midway through the second half. The teams exchanged the lead several times in the closing moments. RCSJ guard Quantavious Rogers kept the Runners in the contest with late heroics, nailing three 3-point shots and key free throws in the closing moments in finishing with 32 points. But forward Matt Compass (17 points) sank a pair of free throws for the Mustangs to give them the lead for good at 79-78.
Trailing by one with six seconds remaining, the Runners launched one final show that bounded off the backboard as they fell in heartbreaking fashion. Montgomery improved to 11-0 with the victory.
In the opening contest, Manor College defeated Williamson College of the Trades by a 65-48 score, advancing to the title game. The Roadrunner Classic continues today as the Runners meet Williamson Trades in the consolations and Montgomery battles Manor in the championship.
