There is a positive feeling about Roadrunner men's basketball for the upcoming Spring 2021 season following a down year last winter -- and with good reason.
Second year coach Will Logan and his staff enjoyed a solid recruiting season, and the Runners looked poised to bounce back and enjoy a winning campaign. The season opens tonight with a road game at Camden County College in a 6 pm tipoff.
"Our practices have been very good and competitive this year, and we feel we had an excellent recruiting year," said Logan. "We have more depth at every position, and that will be crucial in our success in the event of injuries."
The injury bug and a small roster hurt Logan's team during an 8-win 2020 season, but the Runners currently have a full 15-player roster loaded with talent and experience. Two solid starters return in guards Nick Sambour (Williamstown) and Marquis Muse (Union Catholic) along with guard L.J. Carter (Christiana, DE) and forward Jeremy Fleming (Williamstown).
Many talented newcomers fill out the rosters, including explosive scorer Jack Chambers, a blur-chip forward out of Washington Township High School who will provide scoring and rebounding production to a potent lineup.
As is the case with other sports, the Spring 2021 season will be an opportunity for the Runners to test lineup combinations and see how talented new players fit into the mix as they prep for a full season this winter. Logan's team opens their Spring 2021 campaign with back to back games against Camden County College on tonight (March 4) and Saturday, and will have some tough tests down the road.
