Marissa Van Atter, Volleyball

Today we highlight sophomore women's volleyball standout Marissa Van Atter, who played a key role in helping the Roadrunners' program rise to a winning record during the current 2025 season.

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: Atco, NJ

High School: Camden Catholic, Class of 2024.

Major: Elementary education. Marissa hopes to teach either kindergarten or second grade once she graduates and attains the necessary certifications. She is enrolled in Rowan's 3-plus-1 program and will spend one more year at RCSJ and then finish her education at Rowan University. Her professional goal "is to help younger kids and shape their lives."

Interests and Favorite Activities: Enjoys being with family and friends -- and listening to Taylor Swift music!

About Marissa Van Atter: Marissa has played as a setter and defensive specialist throughout her career, which spans seven years total and includes playing time at the Eastern Volleyball Academy (EVA), Camden Catholic High School and RCSJ. In addition to her excellent play on the court, Marissa has coached two seasons at EVA, bringing her hustle, heart and leadership skills to the coaching sidelines.

Marissa serves as a co-captain for the Runners this season and helped her team off to a solid 9-4 overall record as a defensive specialist.  For the Runners this Fall, she has registered 70 digs, 44 service aces, and 50 points.

Marissa Van Atter on her volleyball career at RCSJ:  "Our team made a lot of improvements last year, and we were dedicated to making even more improvements this season -- which we have," said Marissa. "It was amazing to start winning matches on a regular basis.

"My teammates and friends, encourage me all the time -- such as making sure we all come to class every day and just be better people, We really help each other out in everything, and I appreciate these friendships.

"And it all has helped our work ethic on the court, and that's why we continue to enjoy the success we've had this season."
