Today, we highlight Women's Tennis standout Emily Hamilton, who led the Roadrunners to Region 19 championships two seasons in a row under veteran Coach Mary Jewett.
Year: Sophomore.
High School: Williamstown, Class of 2024.
Positions: Singles, Doubles
Major: Education. Hopes to continue her academic career at Rowan University and gain employment as a teacher in K through 6. She also hopes to coach tennis, possibly at the high school level, following graduation.
Favorite Activities: Recently, Emily and a Rowan Christian group participated in a mission trip to Jolo, West Virginia in which group members assisted in supporting local residents who were impoverished and down on their luck.
"It was such as great experience to work with the residents of this town and to help them with their family and community needs," said Emily. "Our mission group learned a lot and we made some amazing new friends."
About Emily Hamilton: Emily helped lead the Runners to a second straight NJCAA Region 19 title at Mercer County Park. She combined with teammate Jenna Georgette to win the First Doubles championship to help RCSJ clinch the team crown,
As a freshman last season, Emily and Georgette also earned NJCAA Division III All-American honors during the National Championship Tournament in Chattanooga, TN.
At Williamstown High School, Emily played 4 years of varsity tennis, including first in her junior and senior seasons.
Emily Hamilton on her transition to the college game: "Overall I've felt part of a great family and made friendships that will last forever," Emily stated. "My game has improved quite a bit. The coaches really helped me adjust to the college level and have prepared me to move forward.
"I could not have asked for better teammates and coaches than the ones I've had here the past two years."
Coach Mary Jewett on Emily Hamilton: "Emily is a very talented athlete and well-grounded young woman," said Jewett. "She really was a valuable member of our program for two years who helped us build a winning tradition. I sincerely hope she continues into coaching tennis when she graduates. She will no doubt have a positive impact on a new generation of young athletes."
