C.J. Gilmore, Men's Cross Country

Today we highlight sophomore men's cross country star C.J. Gilmore, who once again is one of Region 19's top runners this season. He has been RCSJ's top runner in early invitational meets this Fall and has helped  Coach Ryan Hughes' team emerge as one of the NJCAA's top Division III programs. See his profile below.

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: Mount Ephraim, NJ

High School: Audubon High Class of 2022

Major: English. Hopes to continue his education and athletic career at a 4-year NCAA Division 3 school and to one day find employment as a teacher in the region.

Positions: Cross Country -- C.J. is a steady, reliable No. 1 runner for Coach Ryan Hughes, and was also a top-tier performer on Audubon's cross country state title team as a senior. He competed on the Runners' Fall 2022 squad, when he helped the team qualify for the NJCAA nationals as RCSJ's No. 1 runner.

Track and Field: C.J. excelled in both the 800 meters and 4 x 800m events for the Group 1 state champion Green Wave.

About C.J. Gilmore: In high school he played key roles in helping Audubon capture both the NJSIAA Group 1 cross country state championship (Fall 2021) and the NJSIAA Group 1 boys track state title (Spring 2022), the first in the long history of Green Wave athletics! He ran cross country and track and field all 4 years as a student at AHS.

Hobbies and activities include listening to music (he enjoys Tyler the Creator as one of his favorite artists); playing volleyball; and rooting for the Sixers, Phillies and Eagles. Running, of course, will always be his big passion!

C.J.'s older sister Erica Gilmore ran track and field both as a Roadrunner (2016) and at Audubon High. She earned NJCAA Division III All-American honors for Coach Hughes in 2016 in the 400 hurdles and later competed for Rutgers-Camden's women's track teams. She also played field hockey at Audubon High.

C.J. Gilmore on Competing in Roadrunner Athletics: "I'm running for the team for the first time in 2 years. so I hope to keep training hard and trust that the training will help me lower my times," he said. "That's all you can do, and I'm ready for the challenge."
